It had been almost three years to the day she saw them last. Three years since her most beloved childhood friends left her to close the portal from the other side, said never to come back. She had hoped and wished that they would come back to her someday, and her hope was all she had left besides her granny Pinako. She thought about them everyday, all day not really caring she had Automail to work on. She mostly thought about her best customer, Ed. Most of her nights were spent thinking about what would've been between them if he had stayed with her, what they would've done and where they would've gone. Everytime she thought of this hot tears would spill across her face until they ran dry, finally allowing her sleep.
Ever since they left she had tried to lead a normal life as best she could, try to keep up her appearances for her granny's sake because she knew that she missed them too. But she was growing tired of pretending things were OK, she had been doing this for three years already, and to her, it wasn't worth it anymore. She was becoming more and more depressed each day and granny Pinako was seeing this change.
It was a chilly morning in Resembool when Winry was starting to wake up, she felt like it would take everything she had just to get up and begin another day. Downstairs she could hear
her granny in the kitchen making breakfast and she could already feel the day wearing on her. She stumbled downstairs and sat down at the table right as granny put down the food.
"Good morning Winry, you hungry?" As she saw the food placed in front of her her mouth grew into a grim line, the more Winry looked at the food the more she didn't want it.
"No thanks" Winry said plainy as she got up to make some coffee. Winry saw a flash of irritation splay across her grannys face as she said this.
"Well you need to eat something
child!" Granny began,"You've barely eaten at all this week, I've let it slide because I know what day is coming up, but this is getting plain Ridiculous! You can't not eat at all." Granny said but her voice began to lower towards the end.
In response Winry just sat back down at the table with her coffee, sipped it, and began to nibble at the food without a word. As quiet as she was on the outside, she was no where near
as quiet on the inside. Her mind was going in a million directions, she wanted to say so much, yet nothing at all. She wanted to be mad at the world, yet mad at no one but herself for wallowing in self pity. She knew she was stronger than this, she was a Rockbell after all but it was just too much now.
"I'm s-sorry granny" Wriny whispered as a soft tear began to roll down her cheek,"I know I've not been myself in a long while but.... nothing is the same anymore, not without them."
Granny just watched her dear grand daughter not really knowing what to say. They just sat there for a few mintues before granny began to speak again.
"Winry, I know that nothing is the same without them, after all Alphonse was a brother to you and I know that Ed was much more than, but you cannot let them not being here do this to you. You need to leave the past behind. I'm not saying forget them, but you must move on. You know as well as I do that they have had to move on as well
in that new world and I'm sure they think of you to-" Granny had been cut off by the telephone ringing across the room.
She got up and went across the room to the phone, Winry's eyes following her there. She picked up the phone to hear a rushed voice on the other line, Winry's curiosity got the better of her and she went over to stand by her. As she arrived she saw Granny's eyes were wide as she hung up the phone. "That was Roy Mustang on the other line."
Winry's eyes lit up at this news, her hope getting the best of her. They hadn't heard from Mustang in a long time, so this was definitely important news. "What did he say?"
"It's the boys..... he said they appeared...all of a sudden in Central...." Granny didn't seem to know how to finish. That didn't matter much because half way through her sentence, Winry started to race upstairs, beginning to pack for Central, already imagining what lied in store for her there.

Chapter 2
They started walking along a path, not speaking or looking at each other. Edward was still blushing, thinking about who knows what. Winry just sighed and looked ahead at the orange sunset right behind the yellow house on the hill she once lived happily in.
It wasn't the same anymore... that house used to be a place she proudly called home, full of wonderful memories, and it was also the place she would go to when she felt lonely or hurt. But now it only brought her pain, in fact, her eyes were already getting watery again. She tried to hold them in: she didn't want to cry in front of Ed again, she knew how terrible he felt when sh

Chapter 1
A few months had past since the conclusion of the Promised Day.
Once Alphonse had started to regain weight with Mei's help, he had left Amestris with her to go to Xing to learn how Alkahestry worked. It was kind of hard for Edward to accept at first, but then he realized that both of them had to take their own ways sooner or later; and besides, maybe with Xingese Alchemy it would become possible to help people that ended up in Nina's situation.
So once Al left, Ed decided to leave the military for good. Even if Roy had become Fuhrer and Amestris was now under democracy, he still didn't want to be any part of it. Instead, he staye

Edward decided to go take a shower and change in to something cozier; he was a soaking mess at the moment after all.
The alchemist started to undress and put the mud covered clothes in a corner of the bathroom
'I am SO going to get Benny back for this the next time I see him...'
Meanwhile, he turned the hot water knob on in the shower and let it run for a bit so it could warm up.
When steam started to form, he walked in, letting the warm water wash away his thoughts for a bit. But his right shoulder caught his attention; he noticed he still had some screws and metal stuck in it from when he used to have an automail.
He was gla
